At Impact Community, we believe that every child deserves the chance to unlock their full potential—on and off the court. Our mission is to uplift underprivileged youth in Texas and Nigeria by providing life-changing access to sports, education, and mentorship. Through scholarships, structured training, and community events, we help young people build confidence, develop character, and break generational barriers. With every swing, step, and serve, we are shaping a brighter future—one youth at a time.

Our Board Members

Mr. Matt Hanlin

Matt is a lifelong tennis player and enthusiast. His passion for tennis has remained strong since spending 7 years as a junior player at the prestigious Bollettieri Tennis Academy. He was a regular practice partner to Venus and Serena Williams, Monica Seles, Michael Chang, Tommy Haas and other professionals. Matt achieved All American status at the University of Washington; along with a degree in Marketing and Advertising. As a touring professional, he travelled to more than 40 countries and became a top 400 ATP singles player. As a USPTA Elite credentialed professional, he has coached, supervised and managed programs (youth and adult) in some of the country’s finest private and public venues. Matt is excited to help build a thriving tennis center that the community will be proud of. Matt oversees the tennis management at The Courts McKinney as a Director.

Mr. Craig Smith

Craig brings 20+ years of finance leadership experience at Fortune 500 companies and strategic consulting expertise from a Big Four consulting firm, where he led multi-million-dollar client engagements, built high-performing delivery teams, and developed successful go-to-market strategies. He currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer for a national electrical contracting company, where he drives long-term strategic initiatives and accelerates growth across Ohio and Texas markets.

Mr. David Martin

David Martin was born and raised in Tulsa, OK. He attended Stanford University, earning a B.A. in American Studies (2003). While at Stanford, he competed on the men’s tennis team, winning an NCAA team championship in 2000. David competed on the ATP Tennis Tour from 2003-2011, earning a world ranking of #38 in men’s doubles in 2008. After retiring from the ATP Tour, David earned a J.D. at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2015 with Cum Laude and Order of the Coif honors. David worked as an associate attorney for Winstead PC law firm in Dallas, TX from 2015-2023. Since 2023, he has worked as assistant legal counsel for Headington Companies in Dallas. David serves locally on the Boards of St. Philip’s School and Community Center, Dallas Leadership Foundation, and Advocates for Community Transformation (ACT) (advisory). David enjoys exploring the City of Dallas.

Mr. Grant Chen

A fixture in the tennis community both at home and abroad, Chen currently serves on the board of directors for ITA and USTA Southern California.

Chen got his start with the Bruins as a student manager in 2001, as he played a pivotal role in the organization and growth of Martin’s annual on-campus summer camp while fulfilling necessary off-court duties. The Bruins captured the NCAA title in 2005, Chen’s penultimate year in the role. Chen’s jack-of-all-trades skill set resulted in his hiring as Director of Operations upon his graduation from UCLA in 2006. He handled logistics, travel, equipment and management of all home events, including ITA Kick-Off Weekend, NCAA Regionals and the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships.

Grant Chen became SMU’s head men’s tennis coach prior to the 2018-19 season and added the designation of Assistant A.D./Coach Representative in January 2023.
